Why Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend should've taken my advice

According to a recent Daily Mail article, Prince Harry's ended his romance with singer Mollie King because of her indiscretion. Who can blame him? Mollie's loose lips counteracted all the measures she and Harry took to keep their relationship under wraps and out of the public glare.

Her indiscretions also had disturbing implications. To whom would she (and her bandmates/friends) leak info to next? Would she continue to milk the attendant publicity for all it was worth? Harry was presumably also motivated by seeing first-hand how Press leaks fueled his parents' PR war in the late 1980s and the 1990s ("the War of the Waleses"). If nothing else, it shows that Harry is thinking with both his head and heart, and takes his romantic life quite seriously.

In an earlier blog post, I outlined the traits Prince Harry's future wife would need in order to be successful in her public role (this list is also applicable to his girlfriends and romantic partners). At the top of that list was discretion. If Mollie had read that blog post (or received sensible advice), she wouldn't find herself on the outside looking in, like other imprudent royal girlfriends e.g. Lady Sarah Spencer.

So, future girlfriends of Prince Harry, please take note: if you want a fighting chance at capturing Harry's heart, please keep your lips shut. Otherwise, get to steppin', and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
